This historical-geographical region is made up of the municipalities of Bulzi, Castelsardo, Chiaramonti, Erula, Laerru, Martis, Nulvi, Perfugas, Santa Maria Coghinas, Sedini, Tergu and Valledoria.

The territory of Anglona represents an extraordinary example of chronological stratification: from the Palaeolithic human presence to the Nuragic civilizations, from the medieval period to the rural and religious heritage, up to the most vivid expressions of tradition and local life. This historical richness is intertwined with a wide and variable natural landscape, offering experiences and attractions ranging from archaeological heritage to medieval villages, from unique natural formations to coastal and river areas of great environmental value.

Archaeological and prehistoric heritage

One of the distinctive features of Anglona is the density and variety of archaeological sites. Throughout the territory there are testimonies of the Nuragic civilization — including villages, towers, tombs of giants and sacred wells — together with manifestations of prehistoric human presence. Places such as the sacred well of Predio Canopoli in Perfugas are particularly significant: it is a refined example of Nuragic sacred architecture linked to the cult of water, with stone structures and ritual spaces that tell of ancient religious practices.

At the same time, in the territory of Castelsardo and its surroundings, there is the famous Elephant Rock, an evocatively shaped boulder with domus de janas carved into the rock: an element of great charm that combines nature and archaeology in an evocative setting. Recent recognition of the universal value of this site is its inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the prehistoric funerary tradition of the domus de environmental itineraries

In addition to cultural monuments, Anglona offers natural scenery of great interest. Among the environmental attractions, the Petrified Forest area stands out, a vast area where the trunks of ancient forests have fossilized over millions of years: a unique geological phenomenon that gives the landscape an almost surreal appearance and represents an authentic open-air natural "museum".

Among the most evocative nature excursions is the route to Triulintas, near Martis, where gorges, lush Mediterranean vegetation, streams and waterfalls combine in an enchanted environment. The path winds through trachytic rock walls sculpted by time and offers ideas for outdoor activities, nature observation and immersive breaks in the local biodiversity.

The landscape is completed by the Coghinas river valley, which crosses a fertile plain constituting an important ecological and landscape corridor. This is accompanied by the beaches of Valledoria and the stretches of rockier coast near Castelsardo, where the sea and the hills merge into spectacular views.

Villages, medieval history and religious architecture

The human dimension of Anglona is expressed in its historic villages, each with a well-defined identity and with an architectural heritage that reflects the events of past eras.
